Scientists Use Tools

We explored a variety of tools that scientists use. We discussed what senses these tools use and what a scientist might use them for.

Making Number Pairs

This week we worked on making numbers pairs for numbers 8-10. We played "How Many More" with our cubes to practice.

Ordering Numbers

In math, we have been working on ordering numbers and showing amounts in different ways. We've used dot cards, digit cards, and many kinds of objects.

Listening Walk

This week KK explored how scientists use their 5 senses to learn about the world around them. We tested our sense of hearing by taking a listening walk. We had a lot of fun noticing all of the different sounds like crickets chirping, a hose splashing, and construction workers banging.

Visitors Galore!

This week KK got the opportunity to have many guest teachers stop by. Mrs. Bradley, our Digital Learning Coach we share with Reed, stopped by on Wednesday to teach us iPad safety skills and how to make a personified photo. On Thursday, district counselor, Ms. Travers gave KK their first chair yoga lesson. She will visit us once a month all year! Later on Thursday, OB's Math Specialist, Mrs. Furtwengler, came by to play some fun games and quiz our math reasoning skills. We are so lucky to have such a supportive learning community!

(Check out more photos from these activities in the September album.)

Becoming Independent

KK has been learning how to spend time practicing reading and writing skills independently. We have learned how read by ourselves, journal on a topic of our choice, complete word work activities, and use the reading app Kids A-Z. Ask your child what their favorite independent activity was!

Word Work: reading and writing names

Word Work: letter stamps

Writing: free writing in our journals

Word Work: rhyming puzzle teamwork

iPad Reading App: Kids A-Z
